Fabric Storage Bin

I’m not a big New Year’s Resolution kind of person. But I do like to pick a few ‘I would love to do that/learn that’ type things to set as my goal each year.

Last year my goal was to run a full marathon. After my first run that goal turned into ‘I’d be totally happy with just a half marathon.’

I think this may happen again this year.  My goal for 2013 is to learn to crochet. So I made this cute little fabric basket to hold all my crochet supplies. I feel like this may be my ‘half marathon’. The actual crocheting part may not happen. But at least I have a cute little bin.

For the basket I followed Film in the Fridge’s tutorial and it couldn’t have been easier.

You only need 1/2 yard of fabric for the exterior, 1/2 yard for the interior and about 1.5 yards of fusible interfacing. Trust me, use fusible interfacing. I didn’t and it was a total pain. Do-able, put it could have been even easier with fusible interfacing.

This is a great project for a beginner sewer.

I plan on making a few more fabric storage bin.

So for now my basket will hold my boys ‘weapons’ as they call knitting needles. It may be a few more years before I can leave my knitting needles out without having to worry about anyone getting stabbed.diy-knitting-basketOh yeah and don’t look too closely, but I sewed the fabric upside down. Oopsy daisy.

  1. Cute Danielle! I think I want to try to make one with scrap fabric to store supplies in my closet. Thanks for the inspiration! Ps… I think and I are quite similar in our New Years resolutions. They get ‘adjusted’ as the year goes on.
