Looking for paint that’s safe to use in kids spaces, or to use while pregnant. Well I found it.  Lullaby Paints is non-toxic and safe for both kids and the environment. The colours are all great, making it extremely difficult to pick just one color. Lullaby Paints sells both non-toxic chalkboard paint and regular wall paint (more colours available for wall paint).

The chalkboard colour I choose for my chalkboard wall was “Slate”- a grey.

Sam’s bedroom before Lullaby Paints. Way too boring for a 2-year-old!

Lullaby Paints Chalkboard Kit came with everything I needed, even painters tape and chalk!

Maybe I’m lazy but sometimes gathering up all the supplies for these types of projects is just too much work. Because of that I never get around to completing these projects that I dream up in my head. chalkboard-wall

To prep the walls for chalkboard paint I just taped around the edges. And used a level to get a straight and even line at the top of the chalkboard.

I love how the paint comes in an easily resealable package. I only used about half the package for this project.grey-chalkboard-wall

The only part I like about painting is removing that painters tape!

Now to season the chalkboard. Just take the side of a piece of chalk and run it both vertically and horizontally over the entire chalkboard. Then just wipe off. This is important because otherwise those first few drawings your kids make on the chalkboard will leave a semi-permanent mark.

The city is supposed to be Toronto. But Sam insists my drawing of the CN Tower is actually the Eiffel Tower. So we’ll just say it’s Paris.

  1. Danielle, the chalkboard wall looks great! What a fun addition to a kids bedroom. I’ve never heard of Lullaby paints before, but I’m glad I came across this because it sounds like a great product! I’d love to feature your chalkboard wall on my paint color blog, Involving Color. Let me know if you’re interested!

  2. How cute is this?! I love the way the entire wall with the gallery you created above it. That airplane garland is just adorable. The squeezable/resealable packaging for the paint is really cool too.

  3. Looks fabulous! We used chalkpaint on our hallway, and the only thing I wish I would have done differently was to do it sooner! My kiddos love it, and I’m sure your Sam will as well! Found you via That DIY showoff
