Thrift Store Lamp Makeover

thrift-store-lamp-makeoverthrift-store-lampI meet up with some super fabulous Raleigh area bloggers this weekend for some shopping and eating. I found this small round white lamp for my 3 year-olds bedroom at a thrift store. I’m kind of a sucker for thrift store lamps. When I see that shelf filled with big brassy, shade less lamps I just can’t help but buy them all up and give them a second chance on life.

yoda-silhouette-cameoI found these Star Wars silhouettes at I Am Momma Hear Me Roar. She used them to make the most adorable shirts for her boys.

I saved the image to my computer and uploaded it to my Silhouette Studio. And used the trace function to cut them out on a sheet of grey vinyl.

silhouette-trace-functionIf you have a Silhouette Cameo upload the image to Silhouette Studio. Select “Trace”, then “Select Trace Area” and put your cursor around the image you want to trace. Select “Trace Outer Edge” and then pull away the old image. You’ll be left with a red outline. Delete the old image. And cut like normal.

star-wars-lampMy Star Wars loving 3 year-old is quite happy with his “new” little lamp.

To see more tutorials like this one I’d love for you to follow along on PinterestInstagramTwitter, or Facebook.

    • I know I’ve thought the same thing! Although I have bought a couple that didn’t work when I brought them home. That’s annoying.

  5. Great lamp! There are so many lamps out there that just need a little TLC. I am sure your son loves it. No one else will have one like it!
