Freezer Paper Stencil Pillow

Freezer-Paper-Stencil-PillowI’m madly in love with this vintage bamboo chair I found at emily co. If you’re in the Raleigh, NC area go check out her Facebook page to see all the cool stuff she has in stock.DIY-Swiss-Cross-Pillow

The rug came from RugsUSA during their last 70% off sale. I’m totally loving black and white right now.

I normally give furniture that I find a total makeover, but I didn’t want to change a thing about this chair. Maybe it just needed a pillow.

I found this swiss cross fabric at Spoonflower but at $17.50 plus s&h I knew I was too cheap for that. So I made a little swiss cross pillow with freezer paper stencil and some black fabric paint.

I cut two pieces of white linen fabric (21″ x 13″). And pinned the black piping in between. Sew together leaving a hole for stuffing. Remember always sew right sides

I used freezer paper (found at Wal-Mart) to create my stencils. And with the help of my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the crosses. But you could cut them out by hand also (if you’re ambitous/ slightly crazy)freezer-paper-stencil-how-to

Iron the freezer paper with the shiny side down.Freezer-Paper-Stencil-Silhouette-Cameo

Place a piece of cardboard in between the two layers of fabric (so the paint doesn’t bleed through). I had already sewn my pillow cover together so I had to squeeze the cardboard through the hole (maybe not the best way to do it).

I used black fabric paint and applied the paint using a stencil brush. In an up and down

The paint bled under the stencil in a few tiny spots but overall it left perfectly crisp lines.
