Without a basement or a backyard shed our garage has to hold it all, including our dozen or so bikes and wheeled toys.
I have two boys who spend about 11.5 hours a day riding their bikes, trikes, and scooters. My garage is proof. It’s a disaster. It’s so bad that I no longer leave the garage door open, fearful that our neighbors will see the chaos.
A friend, who is a home stager, once gave me a tip to make a space feel larger and less cluttered: to remove everything from the floor and use the walls.
Organizing our bikes has long been on my to-do list so I picked up the Rubbermaid FastTrack this week at Target. With all the different hook attachments I figured it would be my first step to get our stuff off the floor.
The 5-piece Rubbermaid FastTrack kit comes with a 32″ bar and four hooks. Target also carries a variety of other hook options, which can be purchased individually.Installation is simple and quick. It took me about 25 minutes to install (only because I took forever to find a 1/8″ drill bit; as you see above our garage isn’t exactly organized).
Simply mark where you want the screws to go, pre-drill the holes, screw metal bar onto wall, then slip the rubber guide over top.
The hooks simply clamp on. I plan on returning to Target this week to purchase one more Rubbermaid FastTrack 5 piece kit since it will be on sale for $28.89 (reg. $33.99) from May 18, 2014 – May 24, 2014.
How do you organize your kids’ bikes and scooters?
