I had one angry 4 year-old when I added Star Wars wall decals to his brothers bedroom but not to his. I should have known. They fight over everything.
So for Sam’s bedroom he picked out a Batman decal for his walls. Well actually he wanted guns. Seriously we are an anti gun house, but somehow I’ve raised a gun crazed boy. There is no way I was going to have any part of putting guns all over his bedroom wall. So Batman was our compromise.
You can find all the instructions for this in the post I wrote for these LEGO Star Wars decals here.
Basically I used contact paper and cut out the shapes with my Silhouette Cameo (I’m sure a Cricut would work too).I used regular old latex paint to paint the already cut out Batman shapes. I did thin coats of paint and I think for the black I had to do four coats. Let dry and peel off and stick to wall. They are totally removable and won’t peel the paint off the wall when you need to remove them.
As long as you have some sort of cutting machine you can do this for less than a couple of bucks (they even sell contact paper at the Dollar Store). And the best part is that since you are painting the contact paper you can make your decals any colour you want.
Batman sign above the bed from The Salvage Sign.I added a felt pom-pom garland from The Salvage Sign. The blue book rail was actually a plate rail that I found at the ReStore and just spray painted blue. Don’t pass up a thrift store plate rail. They are perfect for kids books.
